FSB Wales, Ethical – Green Businesses of the Year Finalist.
Start small they say and we are. At MAYKHER we’re proud to be a small business, we’re proud of our vision but we know it’s going to take us time to get to where we want. We’re not a business with flashy budgets, investors and a CEO who operates from a glass box office with a breathtaking view, and we’re okay with that. We’re starting small. Year on year we develop a plan that will move the project forward, baby step by baby step.
When you move slowly (and are so close to something) it can be hard to appreciate and acknowledge how far you’ve come, that is until something comes out of the blue that reminds you of your achievements. That’s exactly what happened on our first week back in the studio this year. The Federation of Small Businesses (aka FSB) emailed to inform us we were FINALISTS at the Welsh FSB Awards next month! We’re in the final four of the Ethical – Green Business of the Year Category. Hello extreme happy dancing.
The idea of MAYKHER happened as a result of an idea that maybe, just maybe, we could make a positive difference. We don’t have degrees in Social Science, Political Affairs or Global Economics and we’re not experienced in Humanitarian work. But we do have other skills and could we use those?
Fast forward a short time later and (maybe, just maybe) we could be Wales’ Ethical – Green Business of the Year, and maybe we could go through to the UK wide final. We can’t tell you how happy we are and how thankful we are to FSB for the opportunity and acknowledgement of our hard work.
Wish us luck!
