Educating Girls.
If you’ve been following our journey for a while you’ll know our reason for being is Education. Research has shown that investing into education, specifically girls, can address some serious global issues. Educating girls is a viable tool to end Poverty, Inequality, Child Marriage… and a long list of consequential issues.
Last year we invested into the education of Irma and a few months ago we were thrilled to announce via social media that with your help we were also able to invest into the education of Melody. Both secondary students living in rural Guatemala. There are more than 2 million children in Guatemala not receiving an education, the majority of these are indigenous girls living in rural villages in the country – just like Irma and Melody.
Our artisan partners in Guatemala were the first creative group we started working with in 2016 and so it felt fitting to start our development work with girls that are part of their local communities. With so many people living in acute poverty in rural Guatemala, the future is in the hands of the young people. Education is imperative to allow communities to thrive.
A short while ago we has the mid year report cards through for both Irma and Melody and I am so pleased to share that both girls are continuing to thrive. Irma has excelled in Maths whilst Melody the same in Science. As you can imagine we’re beyond pleased and want to offer our continued thanks to all of you who have supported us in our mission. We couldn’t and can’t do this without you.
